There is neither an economic nor an environmental case for the substitution of palm with vegetable oils or exotic oils on a large scale. This leaves two remaining options: the substitution of palm oil with single cell oils from yeast or microalgae, or more effective implementation of schemes to ensure sustainable palm oil production.
